The firm looks for market- or industry-leading companies with high gross margins, predictable cash flow, defendable competitive advantages or high barriers to entry and low risk of product obsolescence. Many of Tangent's mezzanine investments are structured in the form of current pay subordinated loans with the principal amortizing over a 5 to 7 term. Warrants allowing Tangent to purchase a minority equity position have often been included with the loan to enhance the firm's overall return.
