Dr. Jérôme Jean Haegeli is a Group Chief Economist at Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd. In this role, he is fully responsible for economic research and forecasts and driving the thought leadership in strengthening long-term investing and financial resilience.
Dr. Haegeli represents the firm in a range of external committees within the Institute of International Finance, World Economic Forum, and European Financial Roundtable, to name a few.
He is also an active participant in various industry roundtables, advising governments and policymakers on critical long-term investment themes.
Before joining the firm, he represented Switzerland's interest at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board in Washington DC from 2004-07, and Senior Economist at the Swiss National Bank (SNB) and UBS Warburg.
Before starting his career at UBS Warburg, he was appointed Visiting Fellow at Harvard University's Economic Research Department for his Ph.D.
thesis on the Asian currency crisis.
Dr. Haegeli holds a Ph.D.
in Economics from the University of Basel and a Master of Science degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.
