Prior to joining GEF in 2005, Ms. Larrea was a principal investment officer at International Finance Corporation, where she closed over $260 million in infrastructure and manufacturing transactions in China, the Philippines, India, Thailand and Indonesia.
A fluent Mandarin speaker, she has negotiated several Sino-foreign joint venture agreements, financed the first known acquisition of a Chinese state-owned enterprise by a foreign strategic investor, and spearheaded IFC’s first efforts to invest in China’s emerging domestic private sector.
Ms. Larrea received her MBA with distinction from the Wharton School.
She also holds a Master of International Studies, with a concentration in East Asia and Mandarin Chinese, and a BA in Oriental Studies, magna cum laude, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
