Leisure time is spent on his Chesapeake Bay farm, travel, hunting, fishing and golf.
He is the father of two sons.
After graduating from Franklin and Marshall College, John attended Hahnemann University, receiving his M.D.
in 1971.
Additional study at The University of Pennsylvania and The Pennsylvania State University at Hershey prepared him to achieve board certification in both general and plastic surgery.
He has been a private investor for the past 30 years.
