Prior to joining NewSchools, Ms. Freeland worked with a variety of nonprofit organizations in Latin America, both in Honduras and Mexico.
In Chiapas, Mexico, she worked in fundraising and development at Fortaleza de la Mujer Maya, an arts and social justice organization dedicated to protecting the rights of indigenous women.
Ms. Freeland's interest in education stems from her extensive involvement in English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring for recent immigrants, as well as her experience as an outdoor education leader.
She graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a B.A.
in Comparative Literature and Latin American Studies.
