First Tennessee Bank Asset Management invests primarily in the stocks of US large-cap companies in the health technology, energy minerals, finance and consumer non-durables sectors. The firm maintains a very low turnover rate.

The firm screens public companies for several factors including returns on capital, cash flow growth, revenue growth, improving earnings, and a reasonable relative P/E to earnings growth ratio.
