Richard E.
Schuler has been a Director of New York Independent System Operator, Inc. since 1999 and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University since 1972.
He is a Professor at the Johnson Graduate School of Management.
Dr. Schuler was Public Service Commissioner and Deputy Chairman of New York State from 1981 to 1983, an Energy Economist at the Battelle Memorial Institute from 1968 to 1969, and an Engineer as well a Manager at the Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. from 1959 to 1968.
Previously, he was a Trustee of Cornell University from 1993 to 1997, Director of the Waste Management Institute and the NYS Solid Waste Combustion Institutes from 1987 to 1993, as well as Associate Director of the Center for Environment from 1989 to 1993.
Dr. Schuler received a BE degree in Electrical Engineering from Yale University in 1959, an MBA from Lehigh in 1969, as well as a PhD in Economics from Brown 1972.
