He is a former COO of Republic Capital Group (RSLA) in Milwaukee, WI (now owned by TCF Financial), He has several years of banking experience.
He began his career as a National Bank Examiner in Washington, DC, later moving to Ernst & Ernst specializing in bank audits in their Detroit office, and then COMAC (Parsons Group) as an accounting specialist in Detroit.
He spent fifteen years as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer of a seven-bank holding group in Chicago, serving as president of one of the banks.
He has served as president of Republic Capital Group, a $1 billion multi-bank holding company, executing five acquisitions and a mutual to stock conversion.
Most recently, he has been responsible for equity investments in the financial institutions sector for Heartland Advisors and MBO Advisors.
Mr. Desmond graduated from Georgetown University in 1963 and attended Harvard Community Banking School.
He is a CPA and holds professional licenses NASD Series 6, 7, and 63.
