Mr. Santiago Muñoz is Principal Economist at Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA .
Previously he was BBVA's Principal Economist for Colombia, where he was responsible of following domestic monetary policy, international markets and Colombia's financial and energy sector.
Previous to this he worked at Fitch Ratings in Colombia as head of the financial institutions group and had the responsibility of rating over 40 diverse financial institutions.
His formative years were at Colombia's central bank, where he was an economist in the Financial Stability Department and in the Market Development Department.
He was part of the teams that developed the Financial Stability Report and a money market reference interest rate.
Mr. Muñoz holds a BA in economics from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, Master's in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and an MA in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan.
