The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) is a regional apex body established in 1984 that unites eleven professional accountancy organizations from South Asian countries, with Bhutan as an observer. SAFA promotes and develops the accounting profession across the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region by facilitating cooperation in education, training, technical, and ethical standards. The organization operates through a structured governance framework, including an assembly, board, committees, and technical advisors, and supports harmonization of accountancy practices, promotion of international standards, and capacity building in countries with developing accountancy professions. The non-profit company is based in New Delhi, India. SAFA organizes events such as quizzes, public speaking contests, webinars, and professional development programs, and maintains partnerships with international accounting bodies.
