The firm was founded as MTB Investment Advisors, Inc. in 1995 as the result of a merger between Allied Investment Advisors and M&T Asset Management. In 2012, their name was changed to WTIA. The firm is a wholly owned subsidiary of Manufacturers and Traders Trust Co. (M&T Bank), which is owned by M&T Bank Corp. (NYSE: MTB). WTIA principally provides investment management services to institutional clients. The firm also serves as sub-advisor to the Wilmington Funds, a family of mutual funds.
