Dr. Walter Hyll is a Senior Economist at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.
He has been working for Research Group “Labor Market, Income and Social Security” since 2019.
In his main research, he investigates employment and income careers and evaluates labor market-related policies based on individual data.
He explores how risk preferences, income inequality, and intergroup comparisons affect behavior, as well as the implications of financial literacy for decision-making at the level of individual agents.
He was a researcher at the Unit Analysis of Statistics Austria, and a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Structural Change and Productivity at the IWH.
Before that, he worked at the University of Klagenfurt, the Institute for Advanced Studies in Carinthia, the University of Graz, and WIFO.
Walter was a lecturer for economic courses at different levels for various universities.
He is the author of numerous journal publications, such as Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and Journal of Labor Economics.
Walter Hyll studied at the University of Graz and received his doctoral degree under Oded Stark at the University of Klagenfurt.
