Dr. Friedhelm Pfeiffer is a Deputy Head of Research Department at Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung GmbH.
He is the Acting Head of the ZEW Research Department “Labour Markets and Social Insurance”.
Since 1994 he has worked at ZEW and in 2000, he was appointed the role of a Senior Researcher.
In his current research, Friedhelm Pfeiffer analyzes individual and fiscal costs and benefits of educational investments.
In addition, he evaluates impacts of labour market and education policies.
Since 2002, he has been a lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Mannheim.
He is a member of the Economics of Education committee of the German Economic Association, a steering committee member of the “College for Interdisciplinary Educational Research - A Joint Initiative of the BMBF, the Jacobs Foundation and the Leibniz Association”.
He studied Economics at the Universities of Freiburg, Bern, and Mannheim.
He received the Wolfgang Ritter Award for his dissertation on self-employment.
For his habilitation on wage rigidities, he obtained the Südwestmetall higher education award.
