Mr. Cleary joined WestAm Private Equity Group in 2005.
Prior to joining the Advisor, Mr. Cleary was a Managing Director of Thomas Capital Group, a boutique private equity placement firm.
Prior to Thomas Capital Group, he was Director of Global Private Equity Funds at Frank Russell Company where he was a senior member of the investment committee, primarily responsible for portfolio funds management and business development in addition to client services and fund raising.
Previously, Mr. Cleary was an Investment Officer at the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) where he co-managed and provided investment advice, administration, and oversight for the System's $3 billion Global Private Equity Program, comprised of over 100 private equity partnerships and co-investments.
Mr. Cleary has served on numerous partnership advisory boards and participates in many industry conferences.
Prior to joining the Virginia Retirement System, Mr. Cleary was an Assistant Vice President at Wheat, First Securities (now Wachovia Securities), and also the Dreyfus Corporation.
Mr. Cleary received his B.B.A in Accounting from James Madison University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Cleary is a CFA Level II candidate as well as a registered securities agent.
